The profound sounds of the marimba de chonta and the varied chants and dances from the Colombian South Pacific region inspired the development of the Oí Marimbí videogame. Intangible Cultural Heritage can be revitalized in interesting ways through the interaction of tradition with technology, but the creators are mindful of maintaining good practices in researching traditional knowledge.

Join the Center for Latin American Studies and the SPPO Club to learn more about how Alberto Vega Rivera, graphic designer and MFA Candidate in the Department of Design, and his team use digital narratives to celebrate Afro-Colombian culture. After the talk, attendees are invited to join us at the Oval (weather permitting) to have a hands-on experience in AR (augmented reality) where we will be bringing Colombian music into campus and into your phones! (Please bring your own mobile devices and install the Adobe Aero app to participate.)
